About the Band |
Mission Statement It is the mission of the Stephenson High School Band program to foster an appreciation of good music, to create a positive camraderie for the students and community, and to build model citizens through participation in music rehearsals and performances. Students are offered musical training via Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Instrumental Ensembles, and Advanced Placement Music Theory. Our History Over the past several years, the entire Stephenson Band Program have earned local, state and national awards, including: Superior Band Ratings over the past eight years in GMEA district events, marching in the nationally televised 113th Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California, the featured guests for the Bands of America Super Regional in Atlanta, Georgia, and offered an extended invitation by the Chinese government as a guest performer for the National Festival of flowers in Beijing, China. Last year, our Wind Ensemble was selected to perform for the 2005 Georgia Music Educators Association Convention in Savannah, Georgia as well as being invited to perform at the 2005 Southeastern United States National Honor Band Clinic in Troy, Alabama. These and many other accomplishments of the Stephenson High School Band Program are a testament to our student's resilience and thirst for programs that continue to challenge their personal limits. Currently, graduating band students from the Stephenson Band Program have been offered over 10 million dollars in music scholarships for various colleges and universities. |
